Arabic vocabulary
How to say “death” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَبْدَى مَضْجَعٌ سِوَاكَ قِبَلَ المَمَّاتِ مَضْجَعُكَ،
And he revealed a resting place other than you before death revealed your resting place.
المَمَّاتِ — death. A definite noun naming death, carrying the 'of...' ending because the time-word 'before' governs it. The doubled middle consonant is part of this classical form. It marks the temporal boundary: the revealing happens before death does its own revealing.
