How to say “departed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لَو تغذى الْقلب بالمحبة لذهبت عَنهُ بطنة الشَّهَوَات
If the heart were nourished with love, the gluttony of desires would depart from it.
لَذَهَبَتْ — would depart. The 'la-' answering the 'law' counterfactual, prefixed to a past-tense verb 'went away' with the feminine '-at' agreeing with its subject — 'would have departed'. The 'la-' marks the apodosis.
