Arabic vocabulary
بطر is how you say “excess” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
لا يتضجر عند المصيبة، ولا يفرح فرحَ بطر عند النعمة
He does not grumble at misfortune, nor rejoice with arrogant joy at blessing.
بَطَرٍ — excessively. The owner closing 'a joy of arrogance', set directly after the echoing action-noun. As the owning member it takes the genitive ending and pins down exactly which sort of joy is denied, the conceited kind.
