Arabic vocabulary
How to say “fear” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
اِتَّقِ اللَّهَ فِي نَفْسِكَ الْمِسْكِينَةِ،
Fear Allah for your wretched self.
اِتَّقِ — Fear. This is a command form, an imperative aimed at a single 'you', telling the listener directly to be conscious of God. Its clipped shape is the bare order form of the verb, with the 'you' addressee implied rather than written, which is how Arabic issues a direct instruction.
