Arabic vocabulary
عَفْوٌ is how you say “forgiveness” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in real example sentences from classical texts below.
وعزه فِي عَفوه
And His might in His forgiveness.
عَفْوِهِ — His forgiveness. 'Pardon / overlooking' with '-hi' (His) attached, genitive after 'in'. His might revealed precisely in His forgiving.
From: Knowing God Through His Acts →نسأل الله العفو،
We ask Allah for forgiveness,
الْعَفْوَ — for forgiveness. This is the second object of 'ask' — the thing requested, 'pardon' — also in the accusative with no 'for'. Together with the first, it shows the double-object pattern: 'we ask God pardon' = 'we ask God FOR pardon'. The accusative endings mark both as objects.
