Arabic vocabulary
How to say “good” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ولا يدع التجمل، ولا يمتنع من لبس جيد الثياب،
He did not forsake adornment and did not refrain from wearing fine clothes,
جَيِّدِ — fine. This describing noun, 'fine', stands first in a further 'of' pairing, 'the fine of clothes', and takes the governed ending passed down from the 'wearing of' chain above it. Arabic stacks such pairings to mean 'the finest clothes'.
