وَالنَّحْوَ — and grammar. Here wa- adds another field, a definite noun, to the running list. Its case follows the listing, and the conjunction keeps the parallel disciplines flowing. This connector shares the list-joining job of the earlier ones.
From: A Life of Reading and Writing →وَقَعَ لِي مِنْهُ نَحْوَ مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسِينَ مُجَلَّدًا
I obtained about one hundred and fifty volumes from it.
نَحْوَ — about. A word meaning 'about/approximately', heading the number phrase. It heads an 'of' link to the count and softens it to an estimate rather than an exact figure. It tells the reader the following total is rounded.
From: A Life of Reading and Writing →فَانْطَلَقَ نَحْوَ الْرَّدْمِ
Then he set off toward the embankment.
نَحْوَ — toward. A word meaning 'toward', behaving like a preposition: it governs the noun after it into the 'of'-style ending and marks the direction of the setting-off. So it points the man's movement at its goal, building 'set off toward the embankment'.
