Arabic vocabulary
How to say “hand” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِذَا يَدُهُ الْيُمْنَى مُعَلَّقَةٌ فِي عُنْقِهِ
And when his right hand was hanging from his neck.
يَدُهُ — his hand. A noun closed by '-hu' (his), the possessor glued to its end, standing as the subject of the verbless description that follows. The suffix points back to the man, so 'his hand' is carried by one word, the thing the next words describe.
