How to say “neck” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِذَا يَدُهُ الْيُمْنَى مُعَلَّقَةٌ فِي عُنْقِهِ
And when his right hand was hanging from his neck.
عُنْقِهِ — his neck. A noun closed by '-hi' (his), the possessor glued to its end, sitting in the form the preposition before it requires. The suffix points back to the man, so 'his neck' is built into one word, the point the bound hand was fixed to.
