How to say “have known” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
إِنْ عَلِمْوا بِإِسْلاَمِي قَبْلَ أَنْ تَسْأَلَهُمْ بَهَتُونِي عِنْدَكَ،
If they had known of my Islam before you asked them, they would have been astonished in your presence.
عَلِمُوا — they had known. A past verb whose ending carries 'they' as the doers, the verb the conditional governs. Its plural subject is folded into the word, and after 'if' it reads as the supposed knowing.
