How to say “to ask” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
إِنْ عَلِمْوا بِإِسْلاَمِي قَبْلَ أَنْ تَسْأَلَهُمْ بَهَتُونِي عِنْدَكَ،
If they had known of my Islam before you asked them, they would have been astonished in your presence.
تَسْأَلَهُمْ — you ask them. A present verb in the intent shape demanded by the particle before it, carrying an attached 'them' as its object. The changed ending marks the asking as the not-yet point the 'before' refers to, and the suffix names who would be asked.
