Arabic vocabulary
اسْتَأْذَنَ is how you say “he asked permission” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاسْتَأْذَنَ،
Then the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, came and asked permission.
فَاسْتَأْذَنَ — then he asked permission. The fa- links this verb to the previous as the next step the same actor takes, 'then', so 'came AND THEN asked permission'. The past verb carries its own 'he', the Prophet, and no one new is named, the joiner just chaining his two actions.
