How to say “heedless” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَتَفْرَحُ بِعَافِيَتِكَ غَافِلًا عَنْ قُرْبِ الْأَلَمِ
And you rejoice in your well-being, heedless of the approaching pain!
غَافِلًا — heedless. This word describes the person's state while rejoicing, working adverbially as a circumstance, 'while heedless'. The final -an buzz is the marker Arabic puts on such state-words. It tells you HOW the rejoicing happens: in a condition of neglecting the danger ahead.
