Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the pain” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَتَفْرَحُ بِعَافِيَتِكَ غَافِلًا عَنْ قُرْبِ الْأَلَمِ
And you rejoice in your well-being, heedless of the approaching pain!
الْأَلَمِ — the pain. A definite noun carrying 'the', the owned half of 'the nearness of pain'. That owner role puts it in the 'of...' ending and lets it pass its definiteness up to 'nearness'. So pain is the thing drawing near that the heedless person fails to heed.
