Arabic vocabulary
How to say “her desires” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَعْرَضَتْ عَنْ جَمِيعِ شَهْوَاتِهَا،
And she turned away from all her desires,
شَهْوَاتِهَا — her desires. This plural noun has the 'her' pronoun on its end and is the owner half of the 'all of...' pairing, so it sits in the genitive. Arabic builds 'all her desires' by setting 'all' against this noun, the genitive ending and attached 'her' marking the relationship. The -ha points back to the mother.
