Arabic vocabulary
How to say “his birth” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَقِيَتْ وَقْتَ وَضْعِهِ مُزْعِجَاتٍ مُثِيرَةٍ،
And she encountered, at the time of his birth, distressing and agitating episodes.
وَضْعِهِ — his birth. This action-noun, 'the laying-down / birthing', has the 'his' pronoun on its end and is the owner half of the 'time of...' pairing, so it sits in the genitive. Arabic builds 'the time of his birth' as two nouns side by side, the genitive ending and the attached owner doing the work of 'of his'. It pins the encountering to the moment of childbirth.
