Arabic vocabulary
How to say “honor” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِنْ رُئِيَتْ لَهُمْ كَرَّامَةٌ أَنْكَرُوا،
And if honor was shown to them, they denied it.
كَرَّامَةٌ — honor. A noun that is the thing displayed by the passive verb, its logical subject, which is why it carries the doer-style nominative ending even though it is what gets shown. It is the honour whose appearance the condition supposes; the response verb then reports the reaction to it.
