Arabic vocabulary
How to say “was shown” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِنْ رُئِيَتْ لَهُمْ كَرَّامَةٌ أَنْكَرُوا،
And if honor was shown to them, they denied it.
رُئِيَتْ — was shown. This is the passive of the verb 'to be seen/shown': it reports that something was displayed without naming who displayed it. Arabic marks this passive by reshaping the verb's inner vowels rather than adding 'was', so the honour, not any doer, becomes the focus of the clause.
