يُقَالُ دَنَّتْهُ فَدَانَ أَيْ أَذَلَّلْتُهُ فَذُلٌّ
It is said: it humbled him and he submitted; that is, I humbled him and then humiliation.
أَذَلَّلْتُهُ — I humbled him. A first-person past verb 'I humbled' with 'him' attached as object, a parallel illustration of the root. The 'I' subject is built into the verb's ending, and the suffix names who was humbled.
