Arabic vocabulary
How to say “submitted” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
يُقَالُ دَنَّتْهُ فَدَانَ أَيْ أَذَلَّلْتُهُ فَذُلٌّ
It is said: it humbled him and he submitted; that is, I humbled him and then humiliation.
فَدَانَ — so he submitted. A 'so/then' opener fused to a past verb 'submitted', showing the result of the humbling. The 'so' marks the consequence, pairing the intransitive 'he submitted' against the transitive 'humbled him' just before.
