Arabic vocabulary
How to say “I carry” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَحْمِلُ أُمِّي وَهِيَ الحَمَّالَةُ تُرْضِعُنِي الدِّرَةَ وَالعُلَالَةَ
I carry my mother, and she, the carrier, nurses me the pearl and the little treasure.
أَحْمِلُ — I carry. This is a present-shape verb with the 'I' subject built into its front, so no separate 'I' is written. The present form here states a current, ongoing act: I carry my mother. It opens the recited boast with the speaker as the doer.
