Arabic vocabulary
How to say “she nurses me” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَحْمِلُ أُمِّي وَهِيَ الحَمَّالَةُ تُرْضِعُنِي الدِّرَةَ وَالعُلَالَةَ
I carry my mother, and she, the carrier, nurses me the pearl and the little treasure.
تُرْضِعُنِي — she nurses me. This is a present-shape verb with the 'she' subject built in and the 'me' object suffixed onto its end, so one word means 'she nurses me'. The causative-style pattern adds the 'gives suck to' sense. The -ni points back to the speaker as the one she nourished.
