Arabic vocabulary
الحَمَّالَةُ is how you say “the carrier” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
أَحْمِلُ أُمِّي وَهِيَ الحَمَّالَةُ تُرْضِعُنِي الدِّرَةَ وَالعُلَالَةَ
I carry my mother, and she, the carrier, nurses me the pearl and the little treasure.
الحَمَّالَةُ — the carrier. This is a feminine agent-noun, 'the carrier / bearer', carrying al-, and it forms the predicate of the verbless 'she is the carrier' statement. Arabic needs no 'is' here; placing the pronoun and this noun together makes the sentence. So it names what she is to him: the one who bore him first.
