Arabic vocabulary
How to say “I was ashamed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَتَحَرَّجْتُ مِنَ الْوُقُوعِ عَلَيْهَا،
So I was ashamed to have sexual relations with her.
فَتَحَرَّجْتُ — so I was ashamed. A past-tense verb carrying its 'I' subject in the '-tu' ending, opened by 'fa-' that ties it to the prior scene as the speaker's reaction. The reflexive shape of the verb shows the feeling turns back on the speaker himself, an inner state rather than something done to another.
