Arabic vocabulary
How to say “is forgiven” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
يُغْتَفَرُ أَمْلَاحُ سَفِينَتِها إِلَى جَذْفٍ وَاصْطِبَارٍ،
The sailor of its ship will be forgiven for his rowing and his steadfast endurance.
يُغْتَفَرُ — will be forgiven. A present-tense verb in the passive — the subject receives forgiveness and no forgiver is named. Arabic builds the passive by reshaping the vowels inside the verb, not by adding an English-style 'is/will be'. So the form tells you the action lands on its subject rather than flowing out from it.
