Arabic vocabulary
How to say “is weighed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لَا يُوزَنُ بِهِ رِجْلٌ إِلَّا رَجَحَ بِهِ
No leg is weighed with it without tipping the balance.
يُوْزَنُ — is weighed. This verb is in the passive: the leg undergoes the weighing rather than doing it, with no named weigher. Arabic builds the passive not with a helper word like English 'is' but by reshaping the vowels inside the verb itself, which is why it looks close to its active twin yet flips the roles.
