Arabic vocabulary
How to say “knowledge” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَيَجِبُ أَنْ يَكُونُوا عَلَى مَعْرِفَةٍ بِهِ،
And they must be knowledgeable about it.
مَعْرِفَةٍ — knowledge. An indefinite noun 'knowledge / acquaintance', the object of the preposition before it, so it takes the genitive ending. With that preposition it builds the phrase 'having knowledge' — the state the people must be in. Its indefiniteness keeps it general, knowledge of the relevant matter.
