وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَيْلٌ آخِرٌ أَيَّامِهِ إِلَى الشَّيْخِ أَبِي الْفَرَجِ،
And in his final days he had no inclination toward the sheikh Abu al-Faraj,
آخِرٌ — final. An adjective 'last/final' describing the days named next, locating the lack of inclination in the man's closing period. It heads a time-phrase with the following noun.
