Arabic vocabulary
How to say “likened” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فإنها اللائقة بهم فشبه ذلك برضاها بهم كما رضوا بها
For it is fitting for them, so it was likened to their contentment with it, just as they were pleased with it.
فَشُبِّهَ — it was likened. fa- (so) on the passive form of the past verb, 'so it was likened', no doer named, drawing the consequence. Arabic builds the passive by reshaping internal vowels; the focus falls on the thing compared, not a comparer.
