How to say “listener” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَدْ يُعْرَضُ عِنْدَ سَمَاعِ الْمَوَاعِظِ لِلسَّامِعِ يَقْظَةً،
When admonitions are heard, the listener may experience a momentary awakening.
لِلسَّامِعِ — for the listener. This bundles a 'for/to' preposition, the 'the' marker, and a noun into one word: 'for the listener'. The preposition marks the one the awakening happens to and forces the genitive ending.
