Arabic vocabulary
How to say “marriage to her” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَكُلُّ قَوْمِهَا كَانَ حَرِيصًا عَلَى نِكَاحِهَا لَوْ قَدِرَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ،
And each of her people would have been eager to marry her if he had been able to do so.
نِكَاحِهَا — marriage to her. An action-noun ('marrying') with the suffix '-ha' ('her') fused on as object, so 'marrying her' is one word, in the genitive after the preposition. The attached pronoun is the one married; an action-noun taking an object pronoun like this stands in for a whole 'to marry her'.
