وَالنُّفُوسُ مَجْبُولَةٌ عَلَى وَحْشَةِ التَّفَرُّدِ،
And the souls are naturally disposed to the loneliness of being unique.
وَالْنُّفُوسُ — and the souls. The wa- opens with 'and'. The noun is a definite plural, 'the souls', and the subject of the verbless sentence that follows. With 'the', it speaks of souls in general, as a class. It sets up a statement about how human souls are by nature made.
