Arabic vocabulary
How to say “neglected” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
بل يتركهم هملًا بمنزلة الأنعام السائمة
Rather, leaving them to wander like grazing cattle.
السَّائِمَةِ — neglected. This adjective follows and describes the cattle, matching them in being feminine, definite, and genitive, all shown by its endings. Arabic adjectives copy the case and definiteness of their noun, so this one inherits the genitive forced by the preceding phrase even though it sits several words downstream.
