Arabic vocabulary
الْقَفْرِ is how you say “of the desert” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
وَنَعْتَسِفُ مَفَازَةً الْقَفْرِ إِلَّا لِمُشَاهَدَةِ مَجْلِسٍ مِنْ مَجَالِسِهِ
And we seek the desert's shelters only to behold one of his assemblies.
الْقَفْرِ — of the desert. A noun made definite by al- 'the', in the genitive as the owner half of a possessive pairing with the noun before it: 'the wastes of the desert'. The two nouns sit directly together, and this genitive ending supplies the 'of' with no separate word.
