خُلاصةُ الطريق أصلان أن تُعبَدَ اللهُ وحده، وأن تُعبَدَه بما شَرَع
The essence of the path is two principles: that you worship Allah alone, and that you worship Him with what He has prescribed.
الطَّرِيقِ — the path. Genitive owner closing that pairing — whose essence it is. al- makes it the definite, specific spiritual way, and it hands its definiteness up to 'essence'.

He who finds the road long, his walk is weakened.
الطَّرِيقَ — the road. The object of 'found long', accusative ('-a'), definite — the way / journey. What seems endless to the weary.

طَرِيقُ — the path. The comment of the equational sentence, 'the path', so it takes the subject ending. It heads an 'of' pairing, 'the path of safety', built by placing it directly before the next noun with no word for 'of'.
