Arabic vocabulary
How to say “praise” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَكَفَى بِهَذَا الْقَدْرِ مَدْحًا لِلْعَقْلِ وَذَمًّا لِلْهَوَى
This alone is sufficient to praise reason and criticize desire.
مَدْحًا — praise. The '-an' ending makes this an accusative of respect — 'enough AS praise'. Arabic uses this object form to say in what capacity something counts.
