How to say “present as a gift” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالُوا أَهْدَاهُ لَكَ فُلَانٌ أَوْ فُلَانَةٌ
They said, "Either a man called so-and-so gave it to you, or a woman called so-and-so gave it to you."
أَهْدَاهُ — gave it as a gift. A past verb 'gave as a gift' carrying 'it' attached as object, with 'he' as the built-in subject; so one word covers 'he gave it'. The recipient is supplied by the following 'to you'. Arabic loads the object pronoun straight onto the giving verb.
