How to say “punishments” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَرَأَيْتُهُمْ فِي عُقُوبَاتٍ لَا يَحِسُّونَ بِهَا،
So I saw them in punishments that they did not feel.
عُقُوبَاتٍ — punishments. A sound plural noun governed by the 'in' just before it, so it carries the 'of' (genitive) ending the preposition forces. Being indefinite, it presents these as punishments in general; the relative clause after it ('that they did not feel') then narrows which ones are meant.
