Arabic vocabulary
How to say “Qays (proper name)” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ثُمَّ إِئْتِ قَيْسًا فَقُلْ يَا مَعْشَرُ قَيْسِ
Then go to Qays and say, O people of Qays.
قَيْسِ — Qays. This tribe-name is the owner half of the pair begun by 'assembly', in the genitive 'of' slot, completing 'assembly of Qays'. As a name it is inherently definite. Its place right after the head noun supplies the 'of' link with no separate word.
