How to say “Ramadan” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَتَقُولُ هَذَا آخِرُ يَوْمٍ مِنْ شَعْبَانِ وَأَوَّلُ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ رَمَضَانِ،
And she said, "This is the last day of Sha'ban and the first night of Ramadan."
رَمَضَانِ — Ramadan. The name of the month following the 'from/of' preposition, hence in the genitive form prepositions demand. As a proper name it is inherently definite, and it supplies the whole stretch of time of which the first night is the opening, closing her two-part announcement.
