How to say “reject” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَالَ اِضْرِبُوا عَلَى حَدِيثِ أَبِيِ الدَّرْدَاءِ هَذَا
And he said, "Reject this report of Abu Darda'."
اِضْرِبُوا — reject (you plural). A command-form verb aimed at a group, 'strike out / set aside', the 'you-all' built into its shape. In hadith criticism it idiomatically means 'reject this report', a plural order to discard, with its opening helping-vowel surfacing at the pause.
