Arabic vocabulary
ذَوِيِ is how you say “relatives of” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
قُرْبُ ذَوِيِ الرَّجُلِ وَالْقَرَّابَةِ
The closeness of the man's relatives and kinship.
ذَوِيِ — relatives of. A possessor-word meaning 'those belonging to / kinsfolk of', which by its nature cannot stand alone — it must be completed by a following noun. It is the owned middle of a chain (owned by 'closeness', owner of 'the man'), so it carries the genitive ending and demands the noun after it to finish the sense.
