Arabic vocabulary
قُرْبُ is how you say “the closeness of” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
قُرْبُ ذَوِيِ الرَّجُلِ وَالْقَرَّابَةِ
The closeness of the man's relatives and kinship.
قرب — the closeness of. An abstract noun heading a possessive chain — 'the closeness of ...' — placed directly before its owner with no separate 'of'. As the owned head it surrenders its own 'the' and draws definiteness from the words that follow. It opens the whole phrase and waits on what comes next to complete its meaning.
