Arabic vocabulary
How to say “remained” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَبَقِيَتْ مَرَارَةُ الأَسَى بِلَا مُقَاوِمٍ،
So the bitterness of grief remained, with no one to oppose it,
فَبَقِيتْ — so remained. The connector fa- ('so') fused to a past-tense verb ('remained'), marked feminine by the final '-t' to agree with its subject. The fa- draws this as the consequence of the previous change: since the sweetness turned bitter, the bitterness remained.
