How to say “rudeness” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقُلْتُ وَيْحَكَ مَا هَذَا الْجَفَاءُ؟
Then I said, "Woe to you; what is this rudeness?"
الْجَفَاءُ — the rudeness. A definite noun marked by al-, the thing being pointed at and asked about. With the pointer before it, the al- gives a 'this particular rudeness here' force. It is the predicate the question circles around, the behaviour he is demanding she explain.
