How to say “sadden” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَا فرحها من لم يحزنها
And no one has made it rejoice who has not made it sad.
يُحْزِنْهَا — make it sad. A present-tense (form IV) verb 'grieved / saddened' clipped to the jussive by 'did not', with '-ha' (it) attached — 'did not grieve it'. None gladdened the soul but the one who first grieved it.
