How to say “shade” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَجَعَلْتُ أَمْشِيُ فِي ظِلِّ الْقَمَرِ
So I began to walk in the moon's shade.
ظِلِّ — shade. A noun, 'shade', sitting in the genitive after the preposition and also heading a possessive pairing, 'shade of'. It is incomplete on its own and leans on the following 'moon' to say whose shade; the doubled final consonant is part of the word's fixed shape.
