فَقَطَعَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ أَبِي بَكْرِ قِطْعَةً مِنْ نِطَاقِهَا،
So Asma bint Abi Bakr cut off a piece from her belt.
فَقَطَعَتْ — so she cut. The fa- moves the story to the next event, 'so / then', riding on a past verb with the feminine 'she' shown by its -t ending. The joiner marks sequence; the verb stands complete as 'so she cut', with the named doer following.
