Arabic vocabulary
How to say “sin” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَكِنَّ لَامَهُ لِأَجَلِ الْمُصِيبَةِ الَّتِي لَحِقَتْهُمْ بِالْخَطِيَّةِ
But he reproached him for the calamity that had befallen them because of the sin.
بالخطيئة — by the sin. A preposition 'with/by' fused to a definite noun, marking the sin as the means by which the calamity came. The whole 'by the sin' is one written word, so a single Arabic chunk equals an English phrase; the preposition holds the noun in the genitive.
