How to say “sins” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَمَّا تَرَقَّوا فَعَاقُوا وَالْعُقُوقُ مِنَ الْذُّنُوبِ الْكِبَارِ،
When they grew tender, they were ungrateful, and ingratitude is among the major sins,
الْذُّنُوبِ — the sins. Carries al- ('the') and is the object of the preposition before it, so it takes the genitive ending. The plural is an irregular reshaped form. It names the category — sins — into which ingratitude is placed, and the following adjective will narrow it to the grave ones.
